15 years? experience in venture capital, operations and consulting. Most recently a General Partner with PE/VC fund Pioneer Capital Partners, Joe was also a founding partner of iNovia Capital, a seed and start up-focused venture fund. He has made early and expansion stage investments in a broad array of technology domains, co-investing with other venture funds, corporate funds and angel investors. Past operating roles include VP Business Development/COO of GridIron Software, Director of Marketing at Philsar Semiconductor (Acquired by Conexant) and Marketing roles at Tundra Semiconductor, from spin-out through IPO. In these roles, he worked closely with leading MNC's, including Cisco, IBM, Motorola, Sun/Oracle, MSFT, Apple and Adobe. Consulting assignments include acting VP Marketing of companies in the analog semiconductor, wireless broadband systems and digital rights management software domains. In each of these, Joe served on the executive team and managed the launch of the firm's lead product. Joe has served on the boards of private companies in AsiaPac and North America, assisting with strategy, business development, fund raising and M&A. Institutional governance roles include the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Life Sciences Council, the Business Advisory Committee of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and the Advisory Board of the Carleton University Foundry Program. In AsiaPac, Joe has taken leadership roles with Business Angel Network SE Asia, Start-up@Singapore and the University of Auckland Spark entrepreneurship program. He is currently Executive Adviser to NUS Enterprise, Executive in Residence at The ICEHOUSE incubator, and adviser to the NZ Ministry of Science and Innovation. Joe has contributed to a course on governance for rapid growth companies for the Institute of Directors of New Zealand and is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors. Joe holds a bachelor?s degree and an MBA, both from Queen?s University at Kingston, Canada.
